Coda Illegal

When I learned that Beatrice Moore was leading the way for entrepreneurs to get lots of free money for "the renovation of commercial storefronts" through the Phoenix Artist Storefront Pilot Program, the above image, which I captured last August, returned to haunt me with red sirens blaring.

Local readers will recognize the unique facade in the picture. It is none other than Beatrice Moore's silly Weird Garden. And who are those guys up on her roof, doing work for Beatrice Moore? I will get right to the point and say that they sure don't look legal to me. Neither did the half dozen or so other guys working on top of Beatrice Moore's hot old roof that blazing August day. They looked the very picture of illegal aliens. Did I mention that it was also a Sunday? Who roofs on a Sunday in August in Phoenix?

I wonder if Beatrice Moore remembered to check the men's green cards before she hired them. That would only be the responsible thing to do. She owes that to the rest of us legals in this city, county, state and nation she's been blood-sucking all these years. Why, even as I write this, Beatrice Moore is busier than ever "converting her galleries and properties."

Or somebody is busy renovating, converting and improving all these downtown properties: AND THEY BETTER BE LEGAL!

Now that the City of Phoenix is ready to throw lots more money at "first-time property owners," I'm even more concerned that some of those very same entrepreneurs might be tempted to cheat the very system that blessed them with the money by turning around and handing it over to the illegal laborers who are actually doing the renovating, converting and improving. Then our hard-earned tax dollars would really be flying over the border to Mexico, where nobody cares enough to renovate or improve their own homeland.

At the Tears of Things, our concern for a closed border is part of our motivation for creating our companion program to Phil Jones' Phoenix Artist Storefront Pilot Program. Inspired by the MM Project down on the border, Jerome and I are going to patrol the downtown businesses and properties who are getting the money. It should be easy enough to document (no pun intended) the work that is being done with our taxpayers' money and the workers who are doing it, since all this rennovating and improving is supposed to be done on "commercial storefronts" --right on the street.

Beatrice Moore, being the mole queen here, will be our biggest target. She better not make one misstep. If she thinks she's going to get away with cutting corners by using illegal aliens, well, I'm going to make sure that this whole town knows about it!

Because the other part of our motivation for forming Watchdog Companion Program is that Jerome and I really care about Phoenix, and we want to make sure that all that money --$500,000-- Phil Jones is dying to spread around stays downtown to make OUR environment vibrant and really does help to eliminate downtown blight instead promoting the blight of ILLEGALS POURING INTO OUR STATE, CITY AND NATION.
