Flower Arrangement and Photography by Catherine King, September 11, 2005.
by Catherine King
The first UNHEALED was arranged and posted one year ago, to acknowledge the survivors of the 9/11 Islamist Terror Attacks. I designed the piece using the darkest red, driest, scabbiest looking flowers I could find. The arrangement is about having Post-Traumatic Stress. One is never healed, but life after trauma has beauty and meaningful moments.
I intend to make a commemorative arrangement for 9/11 every year for the rest of my life. I had this year's piece planned out when Hurricane Katrina struck. So I altered the arrangement to reflect our nation's latest, greatest tragedy. UNHEALED II became UNHEALED, TOO. And still, life after trauma has beauty and meaningful moments.
